Working with Mendicity

Working with Mendicity

Mendicity depends on the dedication and enthusiasm of our employees, social enterprise staff, board and volunteers to deliver our services. It is through our joint effort and collaboration that we’re able to open 6 days a week to support those who are homeless. If you are interested in joining our frontline team, we would love to hear from you. See below for details on open vacancies and how to apply.

Social Enterprise

Social Enterprise

Our social enterprise offers employment to people experiencing homelessness and addiction. The purpose of our social enterprise is to offer employment and a route out of homelessness to its participants, while generating funds to support Mendicity’s core services. Social enterprise employees work within the Workshop, our coffee truck Hard Ground, and in the service.

Part-time employment is offered to those eligible for Tús. To apply, email workshop@mendicity.org. Applicants must meet qualifying criteria, and applications are subject to qualification by the Department of Social Protection.

Volunteer

Volunteer

For 207 years, Mendicity has been supporting those in homelessness and poverty. Since the organisation’s establishment we have relied on the help of volunteers. Our team of dedicated volunteers work alongside staff to deliver vital services to those who are homeless, particularly in our evening and weekend service. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing diverse skills to the service.

To apply or learn more about getting involved email kate@mendicity.org. See here for a description of what’s involved in being a volunteer at Mendicity.

Our Board

Mendicity is governed by a voluntary board of directors. Almost 200 years ago Daniel O’Connell was the Chairperson of the Mendicity Board. Today, there are 7 members on our Board from a variety of backgrounds and expertise. More information can be found here on our Governance section. If you are interested in joining our voluntary board of directors, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with Louisa Santoro louisa@mendicity.org
