Position: Front of House (Part-Time)
The Mendicity Institution is seeking a Front of House staff member (20 hours per week) to join our open-access Food and Day Service at Island Street, Dublin 8.
This is a people-focused role, welcoming and supporting those who use our service, ensuring they feel safe, respected and connected to the help they need.
About Mendicity
Founded in 1818, we are Dublin’s oldest working charity. In 2024 we served over 50,000 meals and provided assistance to more than 2,000 people experiencing homelessness, isolation and marginalisation. Our mission is to empower people to rebuild their lives and work their way out of homelessness.
What the role involves
- Greeting and supporting service users with empathy and professionalism
- Sharing information about services offered by Mendicity and partner organisations
- Helping maintain a welcoming, safe and calm environment
- Supporting the smooth running of daily services
We’re looking for someone who
- Is approachable, compassionate and a strong communicator
- Has good IT skills and can work well both independently and as part of a team
- Understands the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, unemployment or mental health difficulties
Terms
- Part-time, 20 hours per week within service hours (Mon–Fri 8.30am–8.30pm; Sun 9.30am–8.30pm)
- Service hours are subject to change
- €16.50 per hour
- 21 days annual leave (pro rata)
- Subject to Garda vetting and funding
